about artist jaison cianelli

Jaison Cianelli Abstract Artist Jaison Cianelli is an abstract artist who's part of the Arts and Healing Network. He was born in 1980 near Boston, Massachusetts. Jaison received a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA. In 2006 he created a series of Word Art Paintings that were both expressionistic and thought provoking. They expressed his joy for art and became a stepping stone to begin work on his Abstract Landscape Paintings in 2008. Jaison would often work to music while dripping latex paint onto the canvas to create the unusual texture in his landscape paintings. He then began to experiment in creating digital abstracted art that was combined with pictures of textured acrylic paintings. This process evolved to include additional layering of altered photography and fractal computer generated images. In 2010 he started releasing this new artwork called Abstract Energy Art which became his most popular collected printed works today. The high resolution of these mixed media artworks were used to create store front awnings, huge 20 foot wall murals, and jaw dropping entrances at restaurants. They have also been licensed by Sony, Disney, and Perfumania.

questions and anwers

What made you want to become an artist?
I have always been an artist, I don't think I ever had to become one. Having a creative outlet and using my imagination makes me a happier person. I figured since I was good at art I should continue to use my gift and make a living doing it. I enjoy being inspired by beauty and then creating beautiful things that can express or share what I felt.

How would you describe the art you create and what inspires you?
The art I create is a type of creative expression of positive emotion and energy.  It is fluid and free, and moves to express how life constantly flows. I am inspired by the beauty and intelligent design of nature - her colors, compositions, use of light and textures.  Some specific examples are sunsets, feathers, rocks, flowers, and water. Often times I am inspired by the creative process and even use the process to heal my inner conflicts. I try to find an overall balance of color and form while searching for a point where the artwork begins to rekindle a connection to something divine and peaceful within me.

What medium(s) do you use to create your art? Why did you choose it?
I use acrylic and water based paint and/or combined digital mediums because they allow me to create in the moment, enjoying the transformational process or layering process. When I use acrylic and latex paint I like the fluidity of the paint and unique texture I can create either by adding or removing layers. It is always an exploratory process. For my digital mixed media artworks I use a combination of actual artwork and software that allows me to paint, manipulate, and generate images. I enjoy the process of combining these different techniques and images together in layers, transforming them further as I go, to create a composition that I could not entirely foresee because it is the end result of a journey.

Which artist's inspired you?
When I was a teenager I learned to paint watching Bob Ross on TV. Later on during college I found Jackson Pollock and the idea of expressionism to be very interesting. I also fell in love with Monet's paintings and his represenation of light or energy. So at certain points in my life I mimicked these artists. While they are all different they were all about the freedom to express while living in the moment to harness the experience or joy of painting. I resonate with this belief today.

What effect do you hope your artwork has on the world?
In the beginning of my career I decided that if I was so inspired by positive emotions and feelings that I should convey them through visual art. Not only is this a healing process that allows me to be joyful and complete, but I feel I could possibly share this good energy with the world and have a positive effect on others.

How do you want to remembered as an artist?
I’m not sure, maybe just an artist trying to follow his heart, trying to convey light in a world where there is much darkness.
