frequently asked questions and answers

What is a giclée?
A giclée is a fine art print created by using the most advanced inkjet printers. There are 3 distinguishing factors to a giclée print: First they are printed by a large format professional grade printer with a wide range of colors. Second, the print was made using archival quality pigmented ink as opposed to dyes. And third, they are printed on an acid-free archival substrate, usually high quality artist paper or canvas. The wider range of colors and superior resolution creates an image that not only looks better but lasts longer.

What is a metal print?
Metal is actually a wonderful material to print that yields superior HD image clarity and a luminous quality unlike any other material. The image is directly printed onto 1/16" thick sheet of aluminum that has been specially treated with a primer and a high gloss finish. A wooden frame is then adhered to the back so that when you hang the artwork it is offset from the wall and appears to float. Shipping this material is also very affordable which makes it an obvious choice for one of Jaison's large artworks.

What is the cost to ship a canvas print?
The cost to ship varies based on your location and selections. In general a stretched canvas print or framed print costs more to ship than a print rolled in a tube. When you place an order it will be automatically routed to the nearest manufacturing center in order to minimize shipping costs to your country. The best way to calculate the price is to make your selection and go through the checkout process as a guest. Click “Add To Cart” > “Checkout” > “Continue as Guest”. Put in your postal code and county and you will see the pricing displayed in the order summary.

How much is an original Abstract Energy Art painting?
Artwork located in the Abstract Energy Art gallery are digital mixed media. They are the result of a multi-layering process from a traditional painting, photography, and digital art. As such they are only available for sale as giclées prints produced by Fine Art America / Pixels via our Online Print Gallery. They are available on gallery wrapped canvas, artist paper, clear gloss acrylic, and high gloss metal.

Should I buy a gloss canvas or matte canvas print?
This is a personal choice. We personally recommend gloss canvas because it adds more depth and vibrancy to the colors. But some customers do not like a glossy shine on artwork for glare reasons and some feel it gives it a more plastic look.

I am unsure of the paper type to choose, are you able to give some guidance?
When selecting the paper you can click the question mark to pull up a page about the types of papers. Picture Rag is hands-down our favorite paper. It produces a gorgeous image with a soft feel and a somewhat luminous quality. It is a very thick heavy weight paper, thicker than canvas. Being acid-free and 100% cotton rag it’s the best choice for archivability. Other great choices are Somerset Velvet, Archival Matte, and Metallic Paper.

Do you ship prints to my country and how much is import tax?
Prints are produced and shipped worldwide from a fulfillment center located either in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Europe, or Australia. When you place an order it will be automatically routed to the nearest manufacturing center in order to minimize shipping costs, speed up delivery times, and hopefully eliminate import tax. You can calculate final pricing with shipping by going through the checkout process as a guest. For a listing of all the products and where they are produced visit Print-On-Demand Manufacturing Destinations.

Can you reduce shipping costs?
Oversized stretched canvas prints more than 60" have an added cost to ship depending on your location. Sturdy packaging is a top priority so great care is taken to make sure your canvas will not be damaged in transit. To reduce costs significantly you can order an acrylic print, metal print or canvas print rolled in a tube. When ordering rolled canvas select the “wrap” tab and check “No Wrap - Rolled in a Cardboard Tube”. Once it arrives you can take it to a local framer to have it stretched onto gallery stretcher bars or standard stretcher bars and frame. In most cases the reduced shipping costs will more than make up for the costs to have it stretched.

Do you have a return policy?
Yes we have a 100% satisfaction guarantee return policy.

Can I see a sample of the print before ordering?
If you would like to see the actual print send us an email and we'll arrange for you to order a small size print at cost which can then be returned for a refund. Also, you can order a sample kit of paper and canvas types for $5. And to further help your decision please view our customer photos.
